Theory of oppression, theory of inhibition and theory of expression, the three main discourses in contemporary woman studies, are always applied to interdisciplinary research such as the folk literature. As a women researcher, it is suspicious that all these theories discusswomen in the viewpoint of man. Of course, the feminists will accept the view that men oppress women,but it will be the echoing of the stereotype. There is no help in the understanding of the truth. In that kind of society regarding men as superior to women in the past, women were a group of silence, how can we know the real status of their life? In fact, we cannot treat the behavioral standard which women restrained by the society of Ming and Qing Dynasties as the desire of women at that time. We ought to notice that although the ideal which women stood fast at chastity was praised in the Ming Dynasty, but the erotic novel was in passion at the same time. This paper investigates into the meaning of remarkableprosperity of publishing Erotic literature under the social domination of sexual desire in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
