The purpose of this study is to investigate the features of the local educational administration(L.E.A.) in Chosun Dynasty by studying historically in what system, what tasks the local educational administration in Chosun Dynasty had performed. In order to understand the system of L.E.A. in Chosun Dynasty, this study analyzed it into four dimensions: administrational organization, educational administrator, educational policy and legal foundation. This study subdivided the L.E.A. in Chosun dynasty into personnel, finance, facility, academic affairs, school rites, and the civil examination, and establishment of educational organizations and analyzed how the tasks of L.E.A in Chosun had been performed by the local government officials. The characteristics of L.E.A. in Chosun Dynasty appeared as follows: 1) harmony between central control and local autonomy 2) attached importance on educational administration in the integrated administration structure 3) grounded on legalism 4) intensification of supervision as encouraging learning 5) serious consideration on students\' achievement test 6) using various educational resources.
