In terms of contemporary military leadership, staff officers\' domain as well as commanders\' one have been emphasized. Roles of such staff officers and intermediate commanders are played mainly by field officers. Targeting in-service field officers from the Korean Army, Navy, and Air Force, this study aimed at objectively analyzing Egogram and ways to exchange strokes between the officers which are instruments to measure ego-state based on Transactional Analysis(TA), and using results of the analysis as basic data for examination of desirable styles and directions of command. For these purposes, questionnaires were distributed to field officers who were trained in XX University, XX Leadership Center, and XX Training Center from February to June, 2007, and a total of 260 questionnaires was collected data which were used in the analysis. Major results of the analysis were summarized as the following: first, Egogram of the field officers from the Korean Army, Navy, and Air Force showed a mountain-shaped pattern with a peak in nurturing parent(A) and a decrease in critical parent(CP) and adapted child(AC); and second, in terms of ways to exchanging strokes, the result showed high positive strokes that a person gives to others and that a person receives from others.
