The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the creativity education using thinking
tools of Bernstein on improvement of creative thinking and creative personality of pre-service teachers.
The subjects of this study were 40 pre-service teachers enrolled in early childhood education
departments who attending at two universities in Chungcheong and Jeolla province. The experimental
group which engaged in guided creativity education using thinking tools of Bernstein for 13 weeks.
To obtain the data, Torrance of Creative Thinking and Hah, Juhyun Creative Personality Inventory
were used. To analyze data, ANCOVA were executed. The results were as follows. First, creativity
education using thinking tools of Bernstein affected significantly on improvement of creative thinking
of pre-service teacher's. Second, creativity education using thinking tools of Bernstein affected
significantly on improvement of creative personality of pre-service teacher's. As creative personality
factors, creativity education using thinking tools of Bernstein had a positive effect on pre-service
teacher's perseverance/persistence, humor, curiosity, adventure but no significant differences in
self-confidence, imagination, openness, independence.
