The purpose of this study is to raise up the issue of parentological studies by paying attention to the new topic, ‘The quality of parents determines the quality of education’. and to search for directions of the future parentological studies. In this paper, we discussed why parentological studies are necessary, how they have proceeded, what the their current situations are, and what challenges they should be addressed in the future. In Korean education, the discourse on parents is not only very poor in quantity but also negative or faint-hearted in quality. It suggests that both parents' actual position and discourse status are low in our society. This situation can cause a structural imbalance of discourse, which prevents the education democracy. Parents definitely are the primary sovereigns in education. In order for parents to demonstrate their rights to education and (to) promote education democracy, quantitative expansion and qualitative changes of parentological studies are required. Modern society characterized by knowledge-based society, globalization, consumer age, and lifelong learning demands a new educational paradigm. At this point, reinterpretation of the educational enthusiasm as a new energy source will lead the future of Korean education and expand the horizon of parentological studies.
