Nongak (traditional Korean music performed by farmers) used in religious ceremony, labor,native art, mass entertainment, parade from ancient times is most closely related to life of our nation and can be defined as dance of group playing, traditional performance, extempore, activity, great emotion of our farming culture which is performed in some ceremony or motivate participation and a town meeting orchestrated with Kkwaenggari, Jing, jango, drums, percussion instruments, such as Sogo. Sogo Dance is sublimation of civilian manners and daily life into high spirits from farming culture. Depending on the change of the times and local natural environment, Sogo Dance has been developed by degrees and recognized artistic value seperated fully from Nongak. Therefore we can see characteristic of Sogo Dance style and inherent thought through the study of ‘lower body dancing style’ performed actively in each area by Gwon myung hwa’s Daegu Sogo Dance. Influence of rugged mountain terrain in Yeongnam districts, ‘lower body dancing style’ of Daegu Sogo Dance gets the charactoristic of rugged and simple dance style.
