The purpose of the study was to survey how teachers adapt their instruction for students with disabilities included in general education classrooms. A total 283 teachers teaching in inclusive classrooms from 70 elementary schools in Inchon city participated. We asked them how they organized the general education classrooms as a whole and where they placed special education students within classrooms. We also asked how they adapted their instruction for those students in terms of, for example, homeworks, evaluation, individualized instruction, and teaching plans. We could find that the teachers were making some efforts in adapting their instruction. However, some teachers, particularly those who have short experiences in special education, were making instructional adaptations very little. Their instructional activities were not different from those for non-disabled students. Reducing class size and giving systematic re-training of general education teachers were suggested.
