This study aims to look into A Research on Group-Game-Play Therapy’s
Effect on the Improvement of Mal-adjusting High School Student’s Emotional
Intelligence and School Adjustment. This research was conducted for 14 high
school students (7 students in the experimental group, 7 students in the
control group) who had problems with mal-adjustment at "A" High School in
Chungbuk province. Group game play therapy program was run a total of 12
times from June 12 to July 17 in 2014. (twice per week, 50 minutes per
session) while comparing pre- and post-tests. The scales of emotional
intelligence and school adjustment of high school students were used as
research tools. For analysis, ANCOVA, which compares post-test scores
between two groups while considering pre-test scores, was used because of
such possible effect of pre-test score on the post-test scores. The results
are (1) there was a significant difference in emotional intelligence after the
program, (2) there was a significant difference in school adjustment after the
program. The group game play therapy program of this study was proven to
be positively effective on the change of both emotional intelligence and
school adjustment of school mal-adjusting high school students, thus this
study is meaningful in that it verified effectiveness for school mal-adjusting
high school students. However, an ongoing research and development of
diverse therapy programs for high school students is necessary for
generalization of this study result.
