In order to compare and analyze the contamination of soil ingredients in the elementary school grounds and to provide the basic data for establiching the standards of ground soil ingredients, the soils of fice school grounds from each area of city, rural, fishing, and mountain areas in Gyungnam Province were analyzed. The results from this study were as follows:
1) The contamination level of the elementary school playing grounds was below the atandard for preventing soil contamination and the ground soils were considered as the safr place to play at.
2) The contents of pH in the ground soils(pH 8.52土0.52) were higher than those of the rural area( pH 5.7) . The ground soils of the city had th phosphoric acid as five fimes as the other areas, but there was no fignificant difference in the areas. The ground soils of the fishing area had more amounts of substitutive magnesium than the others, and there was a significant difference among them. However there was no significant difference in substitutive Kalium, calcium, batrium and so on.
3) The ground soils of the elementary schools had less cadmiun, arsenic, chromium, nickel, etc, than the standard level ofr preventing contamination, but more copper plumbum zinc, etc, than the average amount of the nature. However hydragyrum was not found.
4) The ground soils of the city and fishing area had plumbum as twice to third times and zinc as seven to eight times as the average amount of the nature, and there was a significant difference among the areas.
The suggestions were made as follws :
1) The situation of school ground soils contamination should be investigated every second or third year and the ground soils should be retored regulary.
2) Before restoring the ground soils, the restoration soil ingredients should be examined and the suitable soils should be used.
3) the financial support to equip the playing grounds with modern facilities or lawn grounds should be made.
