The purpose of this study is to fime out the personality of elementary school students under the influence of Taekwondo practice and identify the significance of Taekwondo practice in education. For the purpose of this study the two groups those who get Taekwondo practice and those who do not were compared to fine any differences in the levels of personality development and searched to fine out the relationship between the personality of elementary school students those who get Taekwondo practice and their sexes, grades and school records,
As for the subjects of this study the fifth and sixth graders of seventeen elementary schools located in 00-gun, Chungcheongnam-do participated in this experiment, Two hundred students were chosen form those who have received the practice for more than one year and those who have not received any practice and they answered a list of question.
The materials were analyzed by using SPSS 11.0 terms of T-Test and One way ANOVA.
The results of the study obtained from these methods and the analyses of the materials are as follows;
First, in the comparative analysis of the differences in the levels of the personality development according to Taekwondo practice the students who are trained show noticeable higher statistical levels in all the sub-factors of personality . It can be confirmed that the practice of Taekwondo influences the development of personality of the students positively.
Second, it was analyzed whether the back grounds of the Taekwondo practitioners influences the personality development of them. In the analyses according to the sexes, the personality of the male students shows noticeable higher statistical levels in Patience, Attention , Equanimity, Competency, Leadership and Respect & Manner, But it does not whow noticeable statistical differences in Self-esteem.
Third, in the analyses according to the greades there were not noticeable statistical differences between the groups of the fifth graders and the sixth graders. In the analyses according to the school records there were notiveable statistical differences in Competency and Leadership among the group of high record, middle record and low record. But there were not noticeable statistical differences in Patience, Attention , Equanimity, Self esteem and Respect & Manner.
