본 연구는 MeFOT기반 수 활동이 유아의 수 개념 및 수학적 문제해결력에 미치는 효과를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하여, 만 5세 유아 54명을 대상으로 하며, 이 중 한 반 27명은 실험집단에 배정하고, 다 른 한 반 27명은 통제집단에 배정하여 실험하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 유아 수 개념 측정도구는 최효 정(2007)이 사용한 도구를 사용하였고, 수학적 문제해결력은 이명옥(2007)이 사용한 검사도구를 사용 하였다. MeFOT기반 수활동은 질문하기, 탐색하기, 연상하기, 적용하기, 수용하기 등의 단계로 구성된 프로그램을 이용하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, MeFOT기반 수활동은 유아의 수 개념 전체, 수 세기, 수 연산, 패턴이해, 수량관계 이해, 수 표상 등 수 개념 전반의 향상에 효과적이다. 둘째, MeFOT기반 수활동은 유아의 수학적 문제해결력 전체, 분류, 패턴, 수, 측정, 도형, 통계 등 수 학적 문제해결력 전반의 향상에 효과적이다. 따라서 MeFOT기반 수활동은 유아의 수 개념, 수학적 문제해결력, 수학적 태도에 모두 효과적임으 로 해서 유아의 수교육에 유의미하게 활용할 수 있는 방법이다.
This study is aimed to analyze MeFOT-based mathematical activity on number concepts and mathematical problem-solving abilities of young children. For the experiment, 27 out of 54 young children aged 5 were placed in the experimental group, and the remaining 27 children were placed in the control group. Based on the results and discussion of this study, the following conclusions were made. Firstly, MeFOT-based mathematical activity is effective in improving overall number concepts such as number counting, number operation, understanding of patterns, understanding of numerical relationships and number representation of young children. Second, MeFOT-based mathematical activity is effective in enhancing overall mathematical problem-solving skills like classification, pattern, number, measurement, figure and statistics. In conclusion, MeFOT-based mathematical activity can be meaningfully used in mathematical education for young children, since it is effective for all of number concept, mathematical problem-solving ability and mathematical attitude.
