The purpose of this study was to explore primary teacher aptitudes, and to develop the assessment method of these aptitudes. The following questions were investigated in this study; (1)What are primary teacher aptitudes? (2)What is the best way to assess primary teacher aptitudes? (3)What are the confronting problems and solutions to assess primary teacher aptitudes in college extrance examination ? Through a review of literature, five underlying factors as primary teacher aptitudes were suggested : basic cognitive abilities, verbal and written communication skills, social responsibility and sympathy persobality (emotional stability), understanding of a school subject and motives to become a teacher. To assess these primary teacher aptitudes, three methods were proposed : a currently used achienement test for basic cognitive abilities(not discussed here), an interview method for verbal communication skills and other aptitudes, and an eaasy examination for written communication skills and other fators. The considerable points to assess primary teacher aptitudes were discussed in the situation of the college enterance examination : assessment methods itself(including advantages and limitations), social and legal considerations, and administrative difficulties.
