Recently there is a great tendency to use the portfolio assessment in classroom. However, no systematic evaluation procedure for the protfolio is applied by students and teachers in our elementary school, This study aims to defime the portfolio and to evaluation of several portfolio procedure by theoretical research. The results of this study based on theoretical literature review are as follows: The wywtematic procedure for the portfolio evaluaion consists of fice steps. First, the portfolio negotiation meetin among students, parents, and teachers should be formed. Second, the successive protfolio performance among students should be activated. Third, the sample for the assessment portfolio should be decided by students and teachers. Fourth, the portfolio products should be analyzed by students and teachers. Fifth, the ecaluaion reports for students\' portfolio should be made and utilized. In conclusion, a variety of training program for teachers and successive study should be implemented in order to utilize and perceive the merits of portfolio assessment . Also, the reliability and validity problem will be resolved only if teachers can design portfolio precefure systematically, Finally, the standardized procedure and methed for portfolio as official process should be developed according to the characteristics of each subject matter and case.
