이 연구에서는 학문공동체의 집단지성을 활성화하기 위해 학회가 어떠한 운영 원리를 견지해야 하는지를 교육학회를 중심으로 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 학문의 형성과 발전 과정에 있어서 학문공동체 및 학회가 어떠한 의의를 가지는가를 논의하고, 최근 강조되고 있는 집단지성의 특성과 조건, 작동 기제 등에 대한 선행연구를 분석함으로써 학회 구성원들의 시너지를 창출할 수있는 운영 원리에 대한 시사점을 도출하였다. 아울러, 교육학회 회원 160명을 대상으로 학회 참여동기와 활발한 토론을 위한 조건에 대한 의견 및 학회에 대한 만족도 등을 알아보기 위해 설문조사및 심층면담을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 학문 경력이 적은 회원들의 경우 새로운 지적 자극을 추구하는 학문 내재적 동기가 가장 큰 참여 이유이고 학회 만족도도 높게 나타난 것에 비해, 경력이 많은 중진 회원들은 학문적 정체성과 소속감을 유지하기 위한 학문 외재적 동기가 가장 높았고, 학회 만족도가 상대적으로 낮았으며, 학회 발표 및 토론 수준이 미흡하다는 평가가 많아 학계 리더집단의 학문적 열의를 만족시킬 수 있는 개선책의 마련이 요청됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 이상의 논의를 토대로, 서로 다른 관심과 수준을 가진 학회 구성원들의 요구를 함께 만족시키고 집단지성을 활성화하기 위해서는 학회 모임의 유형을 다양화, 차별화하는 노력이 필요함이 강조되었다. 이에, 학회 모임의 성격을 ``선구적 업적 제시형``, ``전수와 공유형``, ``탐구형``의 세 유형으로 구분하고, 각 유형별 목적, 구성원의 조직, 상호작용의 양상, 논제 설정의 원리 등을 중심으로 구조화함으로써 향후 교육학회의 운영에 이론적, 실천적인 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다.
This study seeks to explore the management principles of academic associations for realization of collective intelligence in academic community. During the last few years, the number of references to collective intelligence has increased in a startling fashion. The studies on distinctive features, required conditions and working mechanism of collective intelligence are examined to get insights on the management principles of the academic association. Based on the theoretical analysis of the academic associations and collective intelligence, the survey and the intensive interviews are conducted to 160 members of Korea Educational Research Association. The participation motives, the conditions to facilitate interactive discussion, and the degree of satisfaction to their academic associations are investigated. The survey and interview results report that the participation motives and the degree of satisfaction are considerably different according to the member`s academic career. This study proposes three models of academic meetings to meet various needs and expectations of members, eventually leading to promote collective intelligence of the community as a whole. The models called as ``meetings for presentation of excellent research``, ``meetings for transmission and sharing``, and ``meetings for exploration`` are expected to have differential management principles in aspects of purpose of meeting, member organization, interaction patterns, and topic adoption.
