The purpose of this research was to explore whether the invention education program has an effect on increasing creativity of high achievers in elementary schools. Subjects were 30 high achievers from 6 different schools in Yangsan area. The students of each group consisted of eleven 6th graders and four 5th graders.
The invention education program consisted of 25 themes with 15 sessions. The experimental group participated in the invention program, while the control group received 15 lectures from a teacher.
All subjects were taken the TTCT tests twice, before and after the experiment. Type A of verbal TTCT was used as the pretest, and Type B was taken as the posttest. The collected data was scored by an experienced TTCT expert. We conducted ANCOVA tests to test the effects of the invention program.
The results show that the invention education program had positive effect on enhancing creativity, in particular fluency and originality, of high achievers. However there was no effect of the invention education program on flexibility.
