음악창작, 음악창의성 관련 연구들 중 크라투스와 히키의 연구는 심리측정적 입장을 비판하고 인지심리학적 연구를 해오고 있다는 공통점을 가지고 있으나, 창의성 및 창작에 대한 개념, 창작 과정에서 탐색에 대한 생각, 연구 절차 등에서 명확한 차이를 보인다. 본 연구는 초등학생 6학년 6명의 창작 과정과 창작 결과를 크라투스와 히키의 분석 방법으로 각각 분석하였다. 그 결과 창작 과정에서, 자유 창작이 조건 창작보다 탐색 활동을 더 많이 하며, 창작 결과에서는 평가 기준에 따라 상하집단 구성이 달라 지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 음악창작과 음악창의성 연구 및 창작 지도에서 과제 유형, 평가 기준 등을 고려 해야 함을 보여준다.
There have been many studies about musical composition and musical creativity. Among the research, Kratus and Hickey, in particular, criticized the psychometric method concerning creativity and both studied from the view of cognitive psychology. However, they have differing opinions concerning the concepts of musical composition and musical creativity, the idea of exploration, and the procedure of research. This study analyzes the 6th graders` compositional processes and products, using two different analysis methods. Students were more open to creative exploration in the free composition than in the conditioned composition, and their rankings of their free compositional products differed based on the assessment criteria. These results show that the type of compositional task and assessment criteria must be considered when musical composition and musical creativity are investigated and when musical composition is taught.
