본 연구는 음악의 시간적·공간적 요소를 기반으로 음악하기 프로그램을 구성하고, 가창과 연주 중심의 체험적 음악활동이 아동의 정보처리기능 및 공간능력에 미치는 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 서울 소재 G 어린이집에 재원중인 6세 아동 66명을 실험집단과 통제집단으로 무선배치한 뒤 음악하기 프로그램을 시행하였다. 연구결과에 따르면 첫째, 음악하기 프로그램은 아동의 정보처리기능 향상에 유의한 효과를 나타냈으며, 특히 동시처리기능에서 그 효과가 크게 나타났다. 둘째, 음악하기 프로그램은 아동의 공간능력 향상에 유의한 효과를 나타냈다. 본 연구는 음악하기의 체험을 통한 비음악적 효과를 입증함으로써, 음악의 다감각적 특성을 활용한 음악하기 프로그램이 아동을 위한 교육적 중재로 기능함을 밝혔다.
The aims of present study were 1) to design and apply a musicing program based on temporal and spatial components of music for young children and 2) to examine the musicing as lived experience may affect children’s information processing function and spatial ability. The participants recruited for this study were 66 six year-old typically developing children from a middle class residential region of Seoul. The major findings were as follows: First, the children who participated in the musicing program showed a significant improvement in information processing function, especially simultaneous processing. Second, the children who participated in the musicing program showed a significant improvement in spatial ability, expecially spatial-temporal reasoning. Findings of this study suggest that musicing as lived experience can be a significantly effective medium for young children’s information processing function and spatial ability. In addition, this study reveals the non-musical effects of the musicing program, which utilizes multisensory characteristics of music. The musicing program contributes as an educational intervention for young children.
