The purpose of this study is to present the direction of convergence education method for SW
and science in elementary schools. by analyzing the effects of an elementary science program
using software education. The program was provided to two classes of 5th grade U elementary
school in P Gyeonggi Province, and its effects on creative problem solving skills and scientific
attitudes were investigated. The results of this study were as follows. First, the experimental
group showed statistically significant improvements in creative problem solving skill test. In
particular, the program has had a positive impact on choosing appropriate inquiry questions and
planning experiments. Second, in the students' scientific attitude test, the experimental group
showed a significant positive influence. In addition, there was a statistically significant effect on
curiosity, persistence, and creativity which are the sub-factors of scientific attitude. These suggest
that the application of SW to elementary science classes is effective in improving students'
creative problem solving abilities, enhancing their scientific attitudes and giving students a positive
perception of science.
