본 연구는 근대산업유산의 재생을 통하여 새로운 개념의 공간을 형성할 수 있는 건축공간계획의 대안을 찾는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 근대산업유산 재생의 방법을 고찰하고, 기존의 건축물이 가지고 있는 중첩된 시간의 역사와 물리적 변화를 레이어의 개념으로 구체화한 건축공간 계획안을 제안한다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 계획안의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 근대산업유산 고유의 기능적 특성을 상징하는 건축요소들을 그대로 보존하여 건축물에 내재되어 있는 시간의 레이어를 표현한다. 둘째, 대지에 분산되어 있는 건축물이 하나의 문화산업단지로 인식될 수 있도록 기능적 레이어를 형성한다. 셋째, 기존 건축물의 형태와 재료를 최대한 존중하고 부가되는 공간이 시각적으로 확연한 차이를 갖도록 하여 건축공간의 물리적 레이어와 재료의 레이어를 드러낼 수 있도록 한다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 인천 정미산업단지의 재생 계획안은 건축물에 중첩된 시간의 역사를 물리적 공간으로 구체화시킬 수 있는 건축물 재생계획의 새로운 대안으로서의 의미를 갖는다.
The purpose of this study is to propose an alternative of architectural space planning which can form a new space through regeneration of modern industrial heritage. For this purpose, this study examines the modern industrial heritage regeneration methods, and proposes the architectural space plan that embodies the history and physical changes of overlapping time of existing buildings based on the concept of the layer. The contents of the proposed design plan in this study are as follows. First, expressed the time layer inherent in the building by preserving the architectural elements that symbolize the functional characteristics of the site. Second, formed the functional layer so that the four separate buildings in the site could be recognized as a cultural complex. Third, revealed the physical layer and the material layer by preserving the form and the material of the existing building and making the added space visually distinct. The proposal in this study has a meaning as a new alternative of the reconstruction plan of the building which can embody the history of time superimposed on the building as physical entities.
