This study aimed to explore the relations between mothers perfectionism, middle school children s social anxiety, and the mediating effect of perceived parenting behaviors. A survey was conducted on 243 subjects from middle schools located in Seoul and Uijeongbu City and their mothers. Data were analyzed with statistical programs, SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) was applied to test if the mothers negative parenting behaviors perceived by their middle school children mediate effects on correlation between the mothers perfectionism and children s social anxiety. Consequently, the study verified that mothers perfectionism has significant influences, directly and indirectly, on their middle school children s social anxiety through perceived negative parenting behaviors. Therefore, mothers characteristics have significant effects on their middle school children s social anxiety. This study may offer useful information to the mother-adolescent child relationship in terms ofprevention of social anxiety of adolescents and remedial mediation of family members.
