The purpose of this study is to discover how characteristics of symbolic words of young children in story decorating of traditional fairy tales with symbolic words are. The subjects are 5-year-olds, and the term of the study is 12 weeks. The approach was proceeded by collecting of the data of young children doing their activities with symbolic words, during which the data was collected using by the check list categorized by the characteristics of symbolic words and interpreted the features of symbolic words of young children. The result of this study is as follows, after using the symbolic words in the traditional fairy tales with symbolic words, the frequency of using symbolic words has increased in the three-time measures(first, middle, final). Next, in the practical use of the symbolic words, the semantic features of young children s use of symbolic words are that the longer the activities of the symbolic words using, the more frequently infants use the symbolic words. Besides, newly created symbolic words show up and as time goes by, it shows the tendency of recognizing the feeling of words. Last, in the practical use of the symbolic words, morphological features of infants symbolic words are as follows. Young children show the a change of location in the sentences by repeating the practice, show the most frequent use from the early stage, and by repeating the practice, infants tend to perceive the rhythm and enjoy it.
