The purpose of this paper is to find out cultural values of the oral tales recorded from immigrants who moved to Korea through the field research and to seek its modern utilization plan. Cultural values of immigrants oral tales are as follows. First, oral tales of immigrants reflecting the specificity of the ethnicities bring about a change of perception that understands cultural diversity and accepts other cultural identity of others. Second, the immigrants recover their cultural identities, which were suppressed in the process of adaptation of culture through the verbal statement of their homeland s folk tales, and expand the identity fusing the dual cultures. Third, the oral tales of immigrants with human universality extend understanding and empathy for mutual culture among members with different cultural identities. Fourth, the oral tales of immigrants manifest its attributes and values of oral culture such as various and different version of folk tales creation and cooperative storytelling. The oral tales of immigrants with the above mentioned cultural values have the potentials of infinite utilization in various academic, artistic and educational fields. This paper suggests ways to utilize them focusing on three aspects. First, in literary therapy, it is possible to make meaningful use of the oral tales of immigrants to expand the narrative area of the work and the objects of literary therapy. Second, in the human dimension, it can train multicultural professionals using the oral tales. Third, it can provide an important source story for developing various cultural contents on the cultural and educational level. This paper suggests the necessity of securing the qualitative level of oral tales data, establishment of quantitative data, and strengthening data of good life stories in order to increase the value and utilization of immigrants oral tales in the future.
