The purpose of this essay is to examine the various contexts related to the formation and tradition of the narrative folk song Jinju Nanggun . The song Jinju Nanggun has a narrative structure similar to the narrative context of the Goryeo folk song Woljeonghwa , and is thought to be a song that was formed in the Goryeo period and handed down. It is believed that Seodabnorae is the oldest sound of the narrative song Jinju Nanggun . Since the Wijeman incident happened in Jinju district, it may have been the motive for the formation of Jinju Nanggun . Jinju Nanggun became more well-known after it was compounded with Sijibsalinorae , and after the modern era, it became popular and changed into typical tunes with middle-aged sounds called Cheongchunga , Noraegarak , and Changbu Taryeong . In the 1980s, it was accepted as the folk song Jinju Nanbongga . Through these various traditions over the years, Jinju Nanggun has become a popular song from the lower to the upper class, from the younger generation to the old, from the local to the central. In addition, it was formed in the Jinju area, which is located in the corner of the country s southeast, and spread widely throughout the country. Hence it could change from the regional type to the widespread type. On the one hand, it has transformed not only into various middle-aged sounds, but on the other hand has preserved the old sounds. Indeed, the value and significance of Jinju Nanggun , the song of Jinju district and of the whole country, need to be given their due attention.
