Recently, the demand for Fume Hood is rapidly increasing due to the expansion of investment in R & D business of large corporations along with the development of biomedical, bio-pharmaceutical, biological environment, food, bio, etc. industries.\nNevertheless, the related SMEs are experiencing a lot of difficulties in survival due to intense price competition with surging competitors. In order to secure a company s competitiveness, productivity improvement and continuous quality improvement through cost reduction are essential, but it is not easy for SMEs. In particular, Company C faces a situation where it is difficult to cope with delivery due to excessive order volume and early second hook up due to large-scale construction orders from large corporations and public corporations.\nIn this study, company C tried to improve the productivity of the fume hood assembly process under the poor work conditions as follows.\nFirst, we used the stopwatch for the current assembly process, and applied the improvement method. As a result, we reduced the work time per piece by 899 seconds and reduced the material movement loss from 175 minutes to 40 minutes per day.\nSecond, to improve the efficiency of line balancing in assembly process, two alternatives were selected using Arena Simulation Tool to reduce assembly time deviation between one pair of workers. As a result, the second plan was adopted to reduce the current four process steps to three process steps. The result was that it increased the production of 5 pieces per day to 7 pieces.
