This study was to grasp the current status of geriatric speech-language rehabilitation by investigating the perception of care wokers about the language problems of the elderly who are present not only in the process of cerebrovascular diseases or dementia but also in the normal aging process. To this end, a survey was conducted on 117 care workers nationwide. The results were as follows; First, 89.7% of care workers were aware of geriatric speech-language rehabilitation, and 83.8% of care workers were not learned about geriatric language rehabilitation. Second, 96.6% of the patients in charge of nursing care workers had experience in speech-language therapy, but 77.9% answered that they were not effective in improving language ability. Third, 78.6% is needed for speech-language rehabilitation education. As a result of this study, care worker recognized the need for language therapy to improve the language ability of the elderly speech-language rehabilitation subjects, but did not learn language therapy.
