한 부모 가정은 그렇지 않은 가정에 비해 가족관계가 거부적이며 친애가 결여되어 있어 자녀의 성격과 자존감에 부정적인 영향을 미치게 되는데, 이들의 학업성취도는 매우 낮은 편이며 기본적으로 학교에 가거나 또래집단에 속하는 것 자체에 어려움을 겪고 있는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 이처럼 한 부모가정아동은 가족구성원의 결여, 경제적 빈곤, 무관심, 방임 등으로 인해 이 시기에 가정 내에서 이루어져야 할 적절한 양육, 생활훈련, 사회적 기술 등에 대한 교육이 이루어지지 않아 인격형성과 사회적응과정에 직접적인 영향을 미치게 되는데, 특히 다양한 상호작용을 통해 형성되는 아동의 자아존중감(self-esteem)에도 부정적인 영향을 미치게 된다. 이러한 관점에서 볼 때 역량강화(empowerment)를 기반으로 하여 아동의 강점과 잠재력 등을 최대화함으로 그들이 인지하고 있지 못한 자신의 강점을 찾아 강화시킬 수 있도록 돕는 원리를 이용하여 긍정적인 자아상을 확립하고 필요한 사회적응 능력 기술을 습득함으로서 자존감 향상을 도모할 수 있는 집단 사회사업의 효과성 검증은 그 무엇보다 시급하다고 하겠다. 따라서 본 논문의 목적은 한 부모가정아동의 역량강화(empowerment)를 주개념으로 한 집단사회사업이 자아존중감(Self-esteem)에 미치는 영향을 밝히기 위해 실험집단과 비교집단을 대상으로 프로그램 실시 이전과 이후로 나누어 대응표본 t검정을 실시하였으며, 유의미한 연구결과를 토대로 한 부모가정 아동의 집단사회사업 실천제언을 제시하였다.
This study is to identify the influence of the Empowerment Social Group Work based on the strengths perspective to improve the quotient of self-esteem of Children from Single Parent Family. The social group work programs based on the strengths perspective which is recently gathering strength in the practice of social welfare are done for the both groups also with the pre and the post examination to measure the quotient of self-esteem. The social group work programs used for the experimental group are that of the authority grant steps designed by DuBois and Miley(1996) and that of the group development steps by Northern(1969). The results acquired the quotient of self-esteem of the experimental group showed meaningful improvement in statistics compared to the comparative group after the group programs(p< .01). All the children participated in the program showed general improvement and maturity in their attitude and communicating ability such as lingual expressions and participation.
