본 연구는 또래상담 프로그램이 고등학생 또래상담자의 의사소통 능력에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 강원도 춘천시에 소재한 B고 1학년을 대상으로 또래상담자 활동을 희망하는 학생 24명을 선발하여, 실험집단(12명)과 통제집단(12명)으로 구분하였고, 이질집단 사전-사후검사 통제집단설계로 실험을 진행하였다. 의사소통 측정도구는 한종혜(1996)가 Barnes와 Olsen(1982)의 의사소통 측정도구를 기초로 재제작한 검사지를 사용하였으며, 자료 분석은 사전 검사를 공변인으로 투입하여 공분산분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 연구를 통해 얻어진 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 고등학생 또래상담 프로그램에 참여한 실험집단은 통제집단에 비해 의사소통 능력에서 부분적으로 유의미한 효과가 나타났다. 둘째, 고등학생 또래상담 프로그램에 참여한 실험집단의 의사소통 능력은 지속적인 효과가 나타나지 않았다. 연구결과를 토대로 또래상담 프로그램은 청소년들이 또래들과의 대화에서 자유롭고 바람직하게 의사소통할 수 있는 능력을 향상시키지만, 단기간의 또래상담 프로그램은 지속적인 효과를 기대하기 어려우므로, 프로그램의 선별적인 사용이 요구된다.
The purpose of this research is to test how effective peer counseling is for the improvement of communication skills. To test the hypotheses, the experiment has been conducted as follows. Twenty four volunteer students were to join in the peer counseling activity among 328 first grade students of B High School, located in Chuncheon, Gangwon. They were assigned into experimental group and controlled group. Peer counseling program was conducted on them. The major findings of this experiment research are as follows. First, high school students in peer counseling program showed partial improvement in their communication skills. Second, high school students in peer counseling program did not show a lasting effect in communication skills. Based on the results, the peer counseling program improves the ability of students to communicate freely and desirably with peers. Selective use of program is needed because short-term peer counseling programs do not expect continuos effect
