The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of career awareness education using gardening on career attitude and career self-efficacy of the elementary school children with mental retardation.
In this study, four elementary students with mental retardation. in a special classes in general school were participated. Their career attitude and career self-efficacy are significantly less than general students'
To determine the career attitude and career self-efficacy for participants, a pretest was conducted with test paper developed by this researcher. Then the career awareness education that included gardening were developed.
Using the case design, the pre-post test for the career attitude and career self-efficacy were conducted before and after interventions.
Also, the changes of the career attitude and career self-efficacy were examined through the use of observation paper and impression of the career awareness education As a result, career awareness education using gardening was effective in improving career attitude and career self-efficacy of the elementary school children with mental retardation
These results were discussed with quality of life of students and considerations for the future research were provided.
