This study intends to verify sociability of children who attended at kindergarten if group art therapy to improve sociability by famous pictures exhibition. Study subjects are eight of all 5-year old children who scored low on social maturity scale and were conveniently chosen with parental agreement. Research tools are famous pictures selected in association with their fitness for children and group art therapy. The entire program of group art therapy consists of total 21 sessions, 4 times a week and each session for 60 minutes. Measuring instruments are a domestic version of E. A. Doll\' s Vineland Social Maturity Scale modified by Kim Sung Kook & Kim Ok-Ki(1995), KSD(Kinetic School Drawing), and observation of the subjects\' behavior. For data analysis, paired sample t-test was carried out on the difference between ratings on Social Maturity Scale and on KSD, while behavioral contents are analyzed through KSD with behavior observation. As a result of the study, group art therapy with appreciation of famous pictures exhibits a significant difference on the improvement of preschool children\' s
sociality(p<.001 Especially, the subcategory of sociability out of all six subcategories of the test marked the highest(p<.oon As the result of content analysis on KSD and behavior observation, there displays a positive change on sociality. In conclusion, group art therapy cooperated with appreciation of famous pictures helps kindergarten gain the attitude of being considerate and receptive, so as to improve their sociality and show positive changes on behavior. As a proposal, since there has been no studies on art therapeutic appreciation of famous pictures, though there\'s been a few studies in the dimension of art educational
appreciation of famous pictures, it is necessary and desirable to develop group art therapy programs composed of mixture of appreciation and expression in artwork while further studies on such programs are being asked for.
