"The purpose of this study is, first, to develop a peer group art therapy(PGAT) program based on the peer counseling training program in Korea Youth Counseling Institute, then to see if the PGAT is effective on personal relationship of the high school students. The PGAT program initially started with the experimental group of ten students and the control group of ten students among the second graders of the K alternative high school located in I city who volunteered to participate in the program. But the study subjects selected for this study were only seven students for each of the experimental group and the control group, who completed the whole program with sincere attitude. The program consists of a total of ten sessions from May through July, 2008, once a week and each lasting 120 minutes. Measuring tools are pretest and posttest of the change scale on personal relationship according the PGAT program, and the data analysis adopts ANCOVA of SPSS 12.0 to verify the effectiveness of the program. The results of the study are as follows. First, PGAT was effective in improving personal relations, especially effective on the subcategory of communication. Second, to observe the qualitative change, the mutual relations for member intimacy, communication, accepting attitude and self-open have been enhanced as well as the attitude to help others with the skills learned in the program. Consequently, PGAT is positively effective in improving the adolescents' personal relationship and can be useful for the schools to help the adolescents prevent the problem and develop skills for personal relations.
