"This study purposed to analyze women’s life stories from the viewpoints of ‘stories’ and ‘media,’ and to suggest their possibilities and limitations. For this purpose, first, we explained the character of ‘traditional stories’ as a medium and the accompanying character as a relation and analyzed the medium character and relation character of women’s life stories. According to the results, women’s life stories were found to have both the medium character and relation character in ‘traditional stories’ to some degree and this was considered a clue suggesting that the original features of ‘traditional stories’ may be inherent in women’s life stories. In the aspect of expression as well, women’s life stories were found to be have some quality to be made into stories. In order for women’s life stories to be ‘traditional stories’ as a medium, they should be equipped with a specific delivery technique required of stories as a medium, and concerning this, women’s life stories appeared to have significant limitations. The discussion presented above premised that in order to accept the modern view of women’s life stories as ‘stories’ and at the same time to overcome the view we should consider the context and origin of ‘stories’ made in the verbal society.
