본 연구는 장애학생을 위한 음악교육이 어떤 목표와 방향으로 이루어져야 하는지를 탐색하는데 목적을 두고, 음악의 특성을 통해 장애학생을 위한 음악교육의 목적은 무엇이 되어야 하는가?와 음악교육의 본질을 통해 장애학생을 위한 음악교육의 방향은 어떻게 되어야 하는가?를 연구문제로 선정하고, 문헌연구를 통해 연구문제를 해결하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 장애학생의 음악교육은 음악적 기능을 가르치기보다 심미적 음악교육을 통해 학생들이 음악의 미적 특성과 가치를 경험하여 자아실현을 할 수 있도록 하는데 목표를 두어야 하는 것으로 나타났으며, 장애학생의 음악교육은 직접적인 음악 체험을 통해 가능한 한 다양한 음악적 경험을 할 수 있는 기회를 제공하는 방향으로 이루어져야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 장애학생의 음악교육은 미적 경험을 통해 자아를 실현할 수 있도록 직접적인 음악 체험을 통해 다양한 음악적 경험을 할 수 있는 기회를 가능한 많이 제공하되, 개별 학생의 특성과 요구를 반영하여 그 내용과 방법을 적절히 조정하는 방향으로 이루어져야 한다고 할 수 있다
"The purpose of this study is to investigate the direction and strategies in music education for students with disabilities. Research problems of this study are that is what should be the purpose of music education for students with disabilities through the feature of music, and what should be the direction of music education for students with disabilities through the feature of music. And these problems are solved by literature review. The results of this study are as follow.
First, music education for students with disabilities is more better if it set its purpose for helping students experience the aesthetic characteristics and values of music and achieve self-realization by esthetic music education rather than teaching the musical skills.
Second, music education for students with disabilities should be towards offering the opportunity that could make them have various musical experience by direct musical experience.
Therefore music education for students with disabilities should offer the opportunity as much as possible which could give them various musical experience by direct musical experience to achieving self-realization by aesthetic experience, and it also has direction for accommodating its contents and methods reflecting the traits and needs of individual student properly.
