"The purpose of this study is to investigate the direction and strategies in music education for students with disabilities. Research problems of this study are that is what should be the purpose of music education for students with disabilities through the feature of music, and what should be the direction of music education for students with disabilities through the feature of music. And these problems are solved by literature review. The results of this study are as follow.
First, music education for students with disabilities is more better if it set its purpose for helping students experience the aesthetic characteristics and values of music and achieve self-realization by esthetic music education rather than teaching the musical skills.
Second, music education for students with disabilities should be towards offering the opportunity that could make them have various musical experience by direct musical experience.
Therefore music education for students with disabilities should offer the opportunity as much as possible which could give them various musical experience by direct musical experience to achieving self-realization by aesthetic experience, and it also has direction for accommodating its contents and methods reflecting the traits and needs of individual student properly.
