"The purpose of this study was to research the effects of self-monitoring strategies on creative problem solving ability and self-efficacy in conceptual learning of high achievers and low achievers. In order to accomplish such purpose, the research questions were established as follows. How much different effects are made by self-monitoring strategies on creative problem solving ability? How much different effects are made by self-monitoring strategies on self-efficacy? In order to resolve the above questions, 20 students for experiment group and 20 students for comparative group were selected from children who gained high marks in sociology, 24 students for experiment group and 24 students for comparative group were selected from low achievers in the same subject. All of them are in the sixth grade of the S elementary school, in B, K province. The two experiment groups were treated with self-monitoring strategy programs in conceptual learning of sociology, 3 times a week, totally 19 times, while the two comparative groups were treated with the general direct instruction during the same period. The data were treated to obtain mean and standard deviation as descriptive statistics and performed ANCOVA(results of the pre-tests, covariate variable, the results of post-tests, dependant variables) to verify the difference of the effects. The results of this study are as follows. The experiment group of the low achievers, that participated in the self-monitoring strategy programs of conceptual learning, was proved to be more effective on the creative problem-solving ability rather than comparative group of the high achievers that didn't participate in the programs. Therefore the self-monitoring strategy programs are useful for enhancing the creative problem-solving ability of low achievers. The experiment group of the low achievers, that participated in the self-monitoring strategy programs of conceptual learning, was proved to be more effective on self-efficacy rather than comparative group of the high achievers that didn't participate in the programs. Therefore the self-monitoring strategy programs are suitable for enhancing the self-efficacy of low achievers. As above, the self-monitoring is effective strategy on enhancing the creative problem-solving ability and self-efficacy of low achievers, because better results were gained by the low achievers rather than high achievers.
