This study is based on the ideas that Transactional Analysis Theory and Rational Emotional Behavior Therapy are theories which emphasize on Rational Emotion. In particular, life script and self-talk is a foundation to create a frame of recognition, and they are very similar in their function and concept. Thus, we planed to compare their similarities and differences.
The similarities are, 1) Human's emotional confusion or mental disorder is affected by a frame of recognition named life script and an irrational belief, 2) A life script and a self-talk is a major factor take a turn for the worse, 3) A symptoms of life script and self-talk are observed from his/her early days and came be reinforced by a certain external factor, i.e. his/her parents. 4) A life script and a self-talk is concluded as a self selective alternative.
Despite of their similarities, there are considerable differences between them. 1) A difference in an aspect of determinism. Transactional Analysis Theory accepts an aspect of determinism. on the other hand, according to a possibility of self control, Rational Emotional Behavior Therapy is against an aspect of determinism. 2) A difference in insight. Ellis(1963) maintained that the concept of psycho analytic contrast to insight of cognitive kinds can be explained by an emotional insight drive a change of behavior. 3) A difference in a view about desire. Being interested in how to satisfy his/her desire, Transactional Analysis Theory encourages him/her to realize his/her desire. But Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy remained negative position on desire. 4) A difference in orientation of ego state. Transactional Analysis Theory emphasizes a integration of ego system as a part of generic humanity. On the other hand, But Rational
Emotional Behavior Therapy underlines an ego of adult.
