The purpose of this study is to search for the answer “What is a successful life for parents of student?” We concentrated on the subjective cognition patterns of mother. For this study, using the Q-method which is useful for setting out subjective attitude, research the cognition of successful life of 35 mothers who have children studied in elementary school, middle school, and high school., and categorized the results. Following this study, We know that cognitions of successful life of parents can be categorized as a three types. First type is a “self-examination”, second type is a “preparation for all things”, and third type is a “pursuit for happiness”. Following this study, we know that new paradigm shift of successful life is emerged, and this new paradigm shift interfered with traditional one. In our society, cognition of role of parents is mixed, and it is in the confused condition. So we suggested that social efforts to establish the healthy value for parents are needed. Finally, We suggested the necessity of follow up study on the sound cognition to succsseful life of parents, for the next generation.
