본 연구에서는 장애 정체감에 대하여 알아보고, 장애 정체감으로서의 장애 자부심에 대하여 살펴 보고, 장애문화형성의 가능성에 대하여 탐색해보았다. 장애 정체감이란 다중적인 자아 정체감들 중 하나로, 장애인이 자신의 장애에 대하여 주관적으로 느끼는 태도로 심리적 차원, 정치적 차원, 문화적 차원의 특징을 지니며, 단계적으로 발전한다. 장애 자부심은 적극적인 장애 정체감으로서 장애 열등 감에서 벗어나 인간으로서의 위엄과 가치를 회복한 상태로, 정치적 문화적 차원의 장애 정체성을 가 지고 있는 것을 말한다. 그리고 이러한 장애 정체성으로서의 장애 자부심은 장애 문화를 형성할 수 있는 기초가 된다. 장애문화란 역사, 예술, 언어, 유머 등을 포함하여, 장애 경험이 녹아 들어간 장애 인의 생활양식의 과정들, 그 속에서 나온 정신적 물질적 산물들로 정의되었다. 열등함의 상징으로 장 애를 읽는 것이 아닌, 다른 삶의 양식으로 장애를 이해하는 것이다. 장애문화는 장애계가 단일화되고 사회가 장애를 이해하도록 소통을 도우며 후세대 장애인들이 장애자부심을 갖고 살아갈 수 있도록 한다. 따라서 이제는 장애인권운동이 장애문화운동으로 변모할 필요가 있으며, 장애에 대한 자부심을 개발하여 후세대 장애인들에게 전하고자 노력해야 한다.
This study explored the issues of disability identity, disability pride, and disability culture. Disability identity is one of multiple self identities. It means subjective attitude toward his or her own disability, has psychological, political and cultural stages and developed by stages. Disability pride is one side of active disability identity. It means people with disabilities free from a sense of inferiority and have dignity and value as a human being. Cultural and political characters of disability identity strengthen disability pride to be a basis of disability culture. Disability culture is defined as the psychological and material products from people with disabilities\' life courses and experiences including disability history, disability art, disability humor etc. Disability do not mean inferiority. Disability creates another life style and makes unique culture. Disability culture helps the union of many people with disabilities, the society\'s understanding of disability, and the spread of disability identity. Now, it is time to change disability right movement to disability culture movement and to develop disability pride for the future generation of people with disabilities.
