Metaphor is a method that we use it primitively and instinctively when we explore a new world. We then try to connect unknown thing with what we already know. Metaphor is also temporary but effective mode to make an approach even partially when we cannot understand everything at once. It creates new meaning by expanding the boundary of our experiences and understanding, transmitting rich meaning in our whole life. Metaphor has a effect to change our usual vision easily at one moment. Metaphor becomes useful means that enables counseling skills which evoke a paradigm shift. Indirectiveness of metaphor is to deal with similar situations rather than doing a client's problems directly and makes him or her express his or her inner problems indirectly in unconscious state. We should view metaphor as frame and means of new and creative thinking style rather than only simple literary expression. Furthermore, we can develop it as therapeutic means to destroy a client's closed world-view. Metaphor is a primary and strong tool to understand people and their inner world effectively and cope with their problems and conflicts even in our days. Moreover, it can be applied in child counseling and marital and family counseling in creative and diverse ways, becoming therapeutic function and means to be understood and dealt with in very significant ways.
