The Transition from industrial society to information society has had a significant impact upon social welfare. It is expected that, in the near future, the heavy adoption of information technology to social welfare is inevitable in Korea, and educator in social welfare sectors and social workers need to maintain a healthy scepticism while technology will continue to create both opportunities and challenges for the social work profession.
This article presents that it is necessary for social work educators and practitioners to prepare provisional ideas as well as to consider counterparts for various positive and negative impacts from using information technology on social welfare education and practices. Thus, the reviewing process of curriculums in social welfare education and training are required to be generated in preparing for new influence of information technology.
At the same time, legislatorial and policy processes to protect people from ethical matters and rights to privacy caused by technological interference should be occurred in corporation with central government and social welfare bodies.
