본 연구는 통합예술치료가 지적장애아동의 적응행동과 부적응행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 한 것이다. 연구 대상은 초등학교 재학 중인 지적장애아동 20명으로 하였다. 통합예술치료의 효과를 알아보기 위하여 연구대상을 실험집단(10명)과 통제집단(10명)으로 구분하여 실험집단은 통합예술치료를 실시하고 통제집단은 통합예술치료를 실시하지 않았다. 연구의 진행은 2010년 5월 3일부터 9월 14일까지 주2회 70분 20회기를 진행하였으며, 실험집단과 통제집단 모두 K-ABS와 K-CBCL 검사를 사전·사후로 실시하여 그 결과를 비교분석하였다. 이와 같은 절차와 방법을 통하여 얻어진 결과를 요약 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 통합예술치료는 지적장애아동의 적응행동을 증가시키는데 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 통합예술치료는 지적장애아동의 부적응행동을 감소시키는데 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 통합예술치료가 지적장애아동의 적응행동 증진과 부적응행동 감소에 유용하게 활용할 수 있다는 점을 시사한다.
The purpose of this study was that integrated art therapy on adjustment and maladjustment behaviors of the children with intellectual disabilities. The subjects of the study were 20 elementary school children with intellectual disabilities, each 10 of whom, then, were assigned to the experimental group and control group, respectively. The experiments were conducted twice a week starting from May 3 to Sep.14, 2010. The one session was 70 minutes and total sessions are 20. To examine the effects of the study, K-ABS and K-CBCL were applied to the experimental as well as control groups before and after the study and compared with each other for analysis. The results were as follows: first, the integrated art therapy is significantly effective to improve adjustment behavior of the children with intellectual disabilities. Second, the integrated art therapy exercises significant impacts upon controlling maladjustment behavior of the children with intellectual disabilities. These findings definitely confirm the positive effects of the integrated art therapy in promoting adjustment behavior and reducing maladjustment behavior of the children with intellectual disabilities.
