본 연구는 가출청소년들의 임파워먼트와 주요 변수들 간의 관계를 파악해보고, 가출청소년 들의 낙관성, 친구지지, 또래집단의 친사회적 특성, 쉼터교사지지, 쉼터프로그램참여도가 임 파워먼트에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 밝혀보고자 하였다. 전국 25개소의 중장기쉼터에서 158 명의 청소년들을 대상으로 한 연구결과, 첫째, 변수간 상관관계는 낙관성, 친구지지, 또래집 단의 친사회적 특성, 쉼터교사지지, 쉼터프로그램참여도, 임파워먼트가 모두 유의한 정(+)적 인 관계로 나타났다. 둘째, 임파워먼트에 대한 상대적 영향력은 유의미한 변수들 중 낙관성 이 가장 높았고, 다음으로는 또래집단의 친사회적 특성, 친구지지, 쉼터 프로그램 참여도 순 으로 나타났다. 즉, 이들이 미래에 대해 더 낙관적인 태도를 가질수록, 또래집단의 특성이 친사회적일수록, 친구들의 지지가 많을수록, 쉼터에서 프로그램을 더 많이 더 열심히 참여 할수록 임파워먼트 수준도 높아지는 것으로 나타났다.
The purpose of this study were to uncover the correlation of independence variables and the empowerment of runaway adolescents, and the relative influences of optimism, the support of friends, the prosocial characteristics of their peer group, shelter teacher support and participation in shelter programs upon their empowerment. The sample consisted of 158 runaway adolescents living in 25 mid to long-term youth shelters. The findings are as follows: First, empowerment was positively correlated with optimism, the support of friends, the prosocial characteristics of their peer group, shelter teacher support and participation in shelter programs. Second, among the significant variables, optimism was identified as the variable that had the most impact on their empowerment. The support of friends, exercised the strongest influence on this, followed by the prosocial characteristics of their peer group and participation in shelter programs. In other words, holding more optimistic attitudes towards one’s future, stronger support of friends, the better prosocial characteristics of their peer group, the higher the level of participation in shelter programs all led to the improved empowerment of runaway adolescents.
