To achieve the ultimate purpose of the welfare of the disabled such as independent living of the disabled,
personal assistant service is inevitable and the stable recruitment and management of those human resources
are very important.
This study focused on the characteristics of the service and experiences during the service of such personal
assistants and reviewed the professional consciousness composition process of the personal assistants. For
the purpose of the study, 3 times in‐depth interviews on the focused group composed of 11 people were
performed and those interviews were analyzed according to Strauss and Corbin(1990)’s Grounded Theory.
From the study, a total of 86 concepts were drawn, which were classified into 24 subcategories and
14 superordinate categories. The core concept in the process of professional consciousness composition
was found as ‘To overcome the chaos through the understanding of disability and work as an personal
assistant.’

the needs of quality enhancement of personal assistance service were increasing, it would be able to provide
