In this study, we made in-depth study about experiences of personal assistance services and coordinator
services, as the center of personal assistance service for the disabled which the coordinator recognizes
awareness of independent living of the disabled, difficulties in service procedures and its relevant solutions,.
For these, we made interviews with 6 coordinators and analyzed through grounded theory. After the
analysis, we obtained 11 categories, 23 subcategories and 53 concepts.
In this study, as the applicants have experienced the center phenomena which means “exhaustion by
continuous problems”, we found the results that applicants “are born again as a doer for disabled people’s
welfare” and its core category showed “overcome from continuous problems”. Through these study results,
we raised the necessity of improvement of coordinator’s treatments, program development of reinforcing
competence, securing rate holder policies for the disabled and vitalization of networks.
