This study is to provide scientific analysis on the living conditions and welfare needs of the Korean War veterans, wherethrough it is possible to draw implications for the establishment of support policy which can reflect the reality and needs of the veterans.
For this purpose, this paper drew policy implications which may lead to the enhanced quality of life with thorough analysis on what their reality is and what they want.
First, it is urgent to establish a social safety net, which can help the old and low income veterans, who are under-previleged due to the recent economic downturns. Second, It is necessary to enhance the medical services and establish a medical treatment system which allows veterans to have access to the medical system nearby. Third, it is also necessary to provide a social network for welfare services which can enhance the quality of life among the elderly by closely cooperating with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and veterans associations. Fourth, it is imperative that the National Cemetery be used as a place for not only paying respecting to the souls of all the fallen heros but also teaching our descendants how the national tragedy of the Korean war was and how our fallen heros overcame it.
