This study mainly explores the contact point between the homeless who are physically, socioeconomically the most vulnerable and the church- based community social welfare for the homeless, in order to find out how the life of the homeless changes through it. This study set Youngdengpo station in Seoul as a study region, where the homeless and the religions coexist, and interviewed 10 people surviving in the church-operated shelter there. The study results are as follows: In a starting phase, the homeless attends worship services because of their dark past and the following deprivations. They usually go there so as to maintain their so-called meal status. In a middle stage, the shelter guarantees lots of worship opportunities, and there the homeless grow confidence by preparing worship services. They worship freely, regardless of others gazes thanks to the love of God. As time goes by, the homeless study Bible and the social issues surrounding them, then get enough courage to go out to the unequal society they will face. This study tried to depict this journey, concentrating on the growth stage of
spirituality.
