The purpose of this study was to conduct a preliminary research into item development in constructing a play evaluation scale for play therapy. For this purpose, the investigator reviewed existing literature on the topic, conducted an in-depth interview with child counselors doing play evaluations in the clinical field, and had the content teated for validity by experts. The findings were as follows. First, there were five components making up the a play evaluation scale for case conceptualization in play therapy: behavior, cognition, language, sociality, and emotion. Secondly, a total of 50 items were identified for inclusion in he play evaluation scale for case conceptualization in play therapy. Following preliminary research and content validity test, 14 items were removed and 6 were added, which led to a total 42 items. The findings of the present study will serve as basic data in item development for a play evaluation scale in play therapy and are expected to promote the understanding of client children and increase effects from therapy.
