The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of parent s rearing attitudes perceived by high school students on their social adjustment and self-control. The subject is a total of 403 high school students in Gwangju. The results of the study are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing the differences according to the demographic characteristics of high school students, there were no significant differences by gender, age, and birth order. Second, social adjustment and self-control perceived by high school students, a positive correlation was found in authoritarian rearing attitude and social adjustment, democratic rearing attitude and social adjustment, and democratic rearing attitude and self-control, but negative correlation was found in authoritarian rearing attitude and self-control. The significance of this study can be found in the fact that parent s rearing attitude perceived by high school students can increase the social adjustment and self-control of high school students, and therefore, it is suggested that democratic rearing attitude is important for high school students in improving their social adjustment and self-control.
