Since 2016, Korean history has become a compulsory subject for the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). This raised several issues in the field of school and theoretical aspects. After the cancellation of the nationalization of history textbooks, discussions on the Korean history of CSAT were focusing on the issues of adopting easy Korean history and the appropriateness of the absolute evaluation. These studies analyzed the content knowledge and difficulty of the items. This paper analyzed the issues of existing history education related to the Korean history examination, as a compulsory subject in CSAT. Especially, the researcher examined the premise and logic development. In addition, a different approach was applied from previous studies to see the theoretical issues based on the trends of history education research, instead of content knowledge or difficulty . In particular, the researcher classified the key issues and challenges of history education into history subject competency, core concept, sequence and students’ understanding of history.
