This study examined overall effect size of variables related failure tolerance that we cope with failure experience successfully. Therefore, a total of 65 articles were identified to be appropriate data and conducted meta-analysis using R package. The results of this study were as follows.
First, the standardized mean difference(SMD) of failure tolerance was a small by comparing men and women. However the SMD of failure tolerance was moderate by comparing gifted students and general students. Second, among academic motivation factors, resilience’s effect size was .75, self-efficacy’s effect size was .68, and Grit’s effect size was .67, learned helplessness’s effect size was -.55 and the school exhaustion’s effect size was -.54, these meant large effect size. Third, among the social factors, the effect size of teacher’s support showed larger than parent’s support and friend’s support. Forth, among family factors, the effect size of parenting attitude showed small. and the SMD of failure tolerance was small by comparing parental and single parent families. The results showed that the effect size of the emotional factor was very small or statistically insignificant than another failure tolerance’s sub-factors.
