Objective : Through the analysis of patients with dementia in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) groups, the risk factors for dementia are developed and the basis for drug and social intervention is to be prepared by developing modifiable risk factors for Korean-style dementia conversionMethods : Totally, 8,912 enrolled from 2008 to 2012, (93 non-converted, 21 converter groups, and 438 dementia) Social, psychological and internal indicators are analyzed to develop Korean dementia risk indexes, and APOE genotype and brain imaging analyses for non-conversion and conversion groups to analyze and identify the social, psychological, and genetic factors of those who have been converted into dementia.
Results : As a social psychological factor, the absence of a spouse, current smoker, and exercise were correlated with conversion to dementia in MCI. Old age and ApoE ε4 allele increase biologically, the relative risk for dementia. Group of ApoE ε4 allele showed brain atrophy on the lateral temporal and bilateral parietal lobe in a 1 year- longitudinal follow up MRI. compared to those with other genetic types.
Conclusion : This study presented various risk factors of dementia conversion in MCI group and it is needed for early intervention of modifiable factors and arly detection of high-risk group was important for prevention.
