The purpose of this study is to provide implications for efficient operation of ‘creative experience
activities’ in Korea by comparing the ‘creative experience activities’ in Korea and ‘classroom hours for
integrated learning’ in Japan. Specifically, their educational objectives, organization, and educational contents are compared. The results of this study are as follows.
First, the introduction background of ‘creative experience activities’ and ‘classroom hours for integrated
learning’ had the intention to transfer discretion and autonomy in the curriculum organization and operation to the unit school to adapt to the changing modern society and meet educational needs. Second, the educational objectives of ‘creative experience activity’ and ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’ have common points in that they embody the characteristic educational activity and human-centered educational process spirit that can lead the future society and enhance the initiative ability and creativity. In terms of the names of ‘creative experience activity’ and ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’, Korea is fixed as ‘creative experience activity’ while Japan is not fixed as ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’ There was a difference in that they were assigned to each school so that they could freely set up their characteristics.
Third, the contents of ‘creative experience activity’ and ‘classroom hours for integrated learning’ have
common points in that both countries have tasks such as international understanding, information utilization, environmental education, national cultural identity education, health, welfare, subject inquiry activity, joint research, and experiential activity requested by the globalized society, but there were significant differences in the styles that present the learning contents.
In these results, it is necessary to encourage the teachers to be able to perform the creative experience
activities in the whole level of school activities in the professional manner and autonomy of the teachers in
the category of the learning of the subject in order to operate the creative experience activities in Korea
efficiently.
